Vintage Hostess: Tailgate Decor

Let me be the first to say, I am not a big fan of sports. I know, I know, who am I? My boyfriend and his family all attended the same school, his brother still attends the university and we live 5 minutes from the school. Therefore this fall, I decided to honor his school for our porch and tailgate decor. In his defense, my university isn’t the best at football and is in another city, so next year the porch will be adorned in maroon and gold- Eat Em Up Cats!

In order for me to get excited for football season, I turn my attention to tailgate decorating! I have been out of college since 2013 so I am so ready for a classy take on tailgating. I love crafting so much, it fuels my soul!! For my tailgate vision,I knew I needed a lovely satin fabric garland - because why not! I wanted to incorporate some of my white and blue jars with some of the crates we have around the garage. I like the idea of fancy and shabby chic for an outdoor arrangement. Then the piece I am most proud of, the football flower arrangement. YALL, I DIED over how adorable it turned out!!! I admit, when I went to Target and ONLY purchased two footballs, I felt like I was having an out of body experience. I mean I only went to the sports section and then walked out with two footballs, (again) WHO AM I??? I have zero regrets because I am obsessed with how it turned out!

Decorating does not have to be expensive! In fact, I try to use what I have as often as I can. I bought the crinkle cut paper from the party section at the Dollar Tree and slapped it in a glass jar to add some color. Then put a nice big bow around it in the school colors. I am not great at bows so this one made my heart happy. Wired ribbon can really change your life!

After this adorable set up, I was tailgate ready! Our porch was also very festive and I hope my neighbors appreciate the esthetic I bring to our neighborhood. I hope all this color and football talk inspired you to Do It Yourself or Treat Yourself
